Here’s a step-by-step guide for building a DIY Bucket Water Filtration System. This method is affordable, reusable, and effective for filtering contaminated water in survival situations.

DIY Bucket Water Filtration System

What You’ll Need: ✔ Two food-grade 5-gallon buckets ✔ Ceramic or carbon water filter (replaceable) ✔ Spigot or hose fitting ✔ Drill & hole saw ✔ Sand, gravel, and activated charcoal (optional for extra filtration)

Step 1: Drill the Filter Hole

🔹 Take the top bucket and drill a hole in the bottom center. 🔹 The hole should be big enough to fit your filter element. 🔹 Secure the ceramic or carbon filter in place.

Step 2: Stack the Buckets

🔹 Place the top bucket on top of the bottom bucket. 🔹 The dirty water goes into the top bucket and flows down through the filter into the lower bucket.

Step 3: Install a Spigot

🔹 Drill a small hole near the bottom of the lower bucket. 🔹 Attach a spigot or hose fitting to easily dispense filtered water.

Step 4: Add Extra Filtration (Optional)

🔹 If you want better filtration, layer sand, gravel, and charcoal in the top bucket. 🔹 Water passes through these layers before reaching the filter, improving clarity.

Step 5: Use & Maintain

Pour unclean water into the top bucket. ✅ Wait as it filters through into the bottom bucket. ✅ Dispense clean water from the spigot. ✅ Replace the filter periodically for best results.
